Volunteers representing area businesses are invited to make a lasting, positive impact on a local nonprofit while learning about CARE’s mission Yarmouth, MA (4/23/24) - CARE for the Cape & Islands will be holding its tenth annual CARE for the Cape & Islands Day on Thursday, May 9th, and extends an invitation to area businesses and community representatives to participate in a half day of service benefiting a local nonprofit tourism attraction. This event involves hands-on volunteer service that helps to repair or improve the infrastructure of a local nonprofit while offering volunteer participants an opportunity to learn more about the mission of CARE for the Cape and the Islands, and how businesses can help preserve and protect the natural environment, cultural and historical treasures of Cape Cod. This year’s beneficiary nonprofit is Camp Farley in Mashpee. Director of CARE for the Cape & Islands Jill Talladay said, “We are delighted to be helping Camp Farley this year. The camp has a strong environmental focus and offers comprehensive outdoor education experiences for both day and overnight youth campers. As always, this annual event provides much needed volunteer service at a significant value to the nonprofit and offers a wonderful opportunity to make an enormous impact without an ongoing commitment.” In past years, volunteers for CARE Day have assisted with a variety of activities including painting, staining, gardening, and trail maintenance at Cape Wildlife Center, Waquoit Bay Reserve, Marconi Maritime Center, Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, Nobska Light, Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary, Yarmouth New Church and Chatham Drama Guild. The event will conclude with a presentation from current year CARE grant recipients, a tour of the nonprofit’s facility, and lunch. Stephanie Viva from Lemonadio will be broadcasting live during the event. Thank you to our sponsors Beacon Financial Planning, Cape and Islands United Way and Kayak Cookies for their support. CARE Day will take place at Camp Farley located at 615 Route 130 in Mashpee.
