Exploring the Beebe family history has been ongoing since Highfield Hall opened its doors to the public in 2006. Along the way, individuals have discovered objects related to the Beebe family or the family business from a wide variety of sources. Terry Gips, a mixed media artist, and member of Highfield’s advisory council discovered a painting once belonging to E. Pierson Beebe by Impressionist Claude Monet, titled “Path in the Wheat Fields at Pourville” (Chemin dans les blés à Pourville) painted in 1882. The painting has been at the Denver Art Museum since 2016. According to the provenance, Pierson acquired the painting in 1905 when it was shown in Copley Hall. Following Pierson’s death in 1926 the painting was placed on long-term loan to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. From approximately 1938 - 2016 this piece was owned by several entities and eventually gifted to the Denver Art Museum in 2016.
