FALMOUTH, MA — The Falmouth Community Veterans Center announces that Falmouth native, Terry Szuplat, will present a talk on Saturday, September 27 at 4:00 PM. Szuplat, who served eight years as a speechwriter in the White House, will talk about the valuable lessons he learned in that role and shares in his book, “Say It Well: Find Your Voice, Speak Your Mind, Inspire Any Audience.” The talk is free and open to the public. Copies of his book will be available for sale. Drawing on experience gained beginning in his hometown of Falmouth, Massachusetts, to working in the Oval Office, aboard Air Force One, and during work in more than 40 countries, Szuplat will explain how anyone can become a more compelling communicator and leader in their own work and daily life. Szuplat's ideas and inspiration for public speaking appeal to a broad audience: from seasoned professionals to young people, he encourages all to become better speakers and communicators. Szuplat, who is a 1991 graduate of Falmouth High School, served as a special assistant to the President and a member of the National Security Council staff from 2009-2017, and as deputy director of the White House Speechwriting Office from 2013-2017. Today, he teaches political speechwriting as an adjunct professorial lecturer at his alma mater, American University’s School of Public Affairs, and runs his own speechwriting firm, Global Voices Communications. The Falmouth Community Veterans Center, managed by Joe Q Veteran Coffee Break (501(c)(3)), is an inclusive meeting place open to all who share a connection to the military. The mission is to foster fellowship and unite community members and organizations to connect, honor, and serve Veterans, military members, and their families.
