Falmouth Heights, MA – July 2025 – This summer, Holiday Cycles, one of Cape Cod’s most iconic seasonal businesses, proudly celebrates its 50th anniversary of serving generations of summer visitors and locals alike. Since first opening its doors in 1975, Holiday Cycles has been a staple of the Falmouth Heights community, offering bicycle sales, rentals, and repairs from its familiar corner location along Grand Avenue across from Falmouth Harbor. Recognized especially for its colorful surrey bike rentals, Holiday Cycles has long been part of the local landscape, with its signature four-wheel bikes often seen cruising the scenic coastal roads. For many, the small white building with red trim is more than just a bike shop—it’s a symbol of summer, fun, and family memories. Owned and operated by Bob Mollo, Holiday Cycles has remained largely unchanged in appearance even as the surrounding neighborhood has evolved with newer vacation homes. “The building may be modest, but the joy it brings people is anything but,” says Mollo. “We’ve seen parents who rode our bikes as kids now bringing their own children and even grandchildren to make memories of their own.” Bob and his wife Beth reside in Tumble, Connecticut, and spend their summers in Falmouth where Bob runs the business. In the off-season, they work in travel and ski industries and travel, adding to their year-round love of active lifestyles and customer service. Since 2018, Holiday Cycles has shared its charming building with another local favorite, The Black Dog Heights Café. “They’ve been the best neighbors,” says Mollo. “Vacationers are in a cheerful mood. They often start the day with coffee at the café and then wander over looking for a cycling adventure.” Open from May through Columbus Day, Holiday Cycles continues to be an essential part of the Cape Cod vacation experience—an enduring family-owned business where generations come to rent bikes, share stories, and take in the beauty of Falmouth Heights by pedal power. “We are honored and grateful to celebrate 50 years in this special place,” Mollo adds. “It means the world to know that Holiday Cycles holds a place in so many hearts—and that the tradition continues.”
