Cape & Islands United Way Awards $20,000 in Microgrants to Local Organizations

CIUW microgrants fund programs that support and encourage local volunteerism
Hyannis, MA — Cape & Islands United Way (CIUW), a nonprofit organization on a mission to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our communities to advance the common good on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket, recently awarded $20,000 to 8 local organizations through its microgrant program. Funding will be used to support the following organizations and programs:
? Neighborhood Falmouth, a community-based membership organization whose mission is to help older Falmouth residents live independently, safely, and comfortably at home for as long as is practical by providing support, information, and services;
? St. David's Episcopal Church, a South Yarmouth church offering critical resources for local community members, including a food kitchen and pantry;
? Harwich Children's Fund, a volunteer-run organization providing clothes and essential items for children in Harwich schools;
? Oak Bluffs Ambulance Association, a volunteer-run non-profit delivering Emergency Medical Services to the Vineyard community;
? CCYP, a community organization working to create opportunities for our region's workforce and aspiring leaders to connect, engage, and advance, including a civic engagement program for young professionals on the Cape;
? One Shared Spirit, a community resource center providing peer support, recovery services, education, harm-reduction supplies, and Narcan to the people of Mashpee and beyond at no cost;
? The Warming Place, a daytime and overnight shelter for individuals on Nantucket experiencing homelessness;
? Hospice and Palliative Care of Martha's Vineyard, a nonprofit that provides end-of-life care for local patients and their loved ones.

Grant recipients can receive up to $5,000 in funding. CIUW seeks to fund programs that engage volunteers on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, or Nantucket. To learn more about the microgrant program, visit https://www.capeandislandsuw.org/microgrants.
