Timeless Tales, A Literary Journey Friday, November 22nd – Sunday, December 15th (Falmouth, MA) Highfield Hall & Gardens is “Decking the Hall” for the 18th Annual Holidays at Highfield starting Friday, November 22nd and running for four consecutive weekends, Thursdays through Sundays, except Thanksgiving Day. Visit the decorated house and shop in our select artisan gift gallery. This year’s theme, Timeless Tales, A Literary Journey, is being brought to life through the imagination and talent of local designer Sarah Pring @vintagepottingshed. Sarah’s aesthetic touch brings natural organic materials together with old and new design elements, creating magic for this year’s display. Sarah dresses Historic Highfield with an elegant and elevated festive design, blending a specially curated collection with floral design that is both whimsical and reminiscent. Woven throughout the house are eight design vignettes evoking memories of favorite childhood books. Visitors will be transported by the visual interpretation of timeless tales. Other Holiday features include a model railway brought to us by the Nauset Model Railroad Club and set in the backdrop of Highfield’s Billiards room with a nod to a Victorian train station. Music will be scheduled daily including traditional holiday songs performed by the Victorian Carolers, harp music, pianists including Vanna Pacella, and contemporary and traditional guitar returns with favorite Michael Oakland. Students from the Turning Pointe Dance Studio will perform dance vignettes. There is something extra for everyone! Artisan Gift Gallery, crafts for all ages, a pictorial scavenger hunt for children, and an outdoor Story Walk featuring holiday and winter themed books. On Saturdays and Sundays, we will have story reading for children, and our favorite Snow Queen and Snow Princesses will make regular appearances. Programs including holiday culinary, felting, and floral classes are scheduled throughout these weeks. These classes fill up fast, so check out the website for dates and pricing information. There is no better place to get into the holiday spirit than Holidays at Highfield. Admission is $15 member/$20 non-member. Military and children 17 and under are free. To attend Holidays at Highfield, we recommend visitors pre-register, although walk-ins are possible if space allows. It is a unique combination of a historic house, expansive gardens and trails, and a vibrant cultural center. Built in 1878 as the summer home for Boston's Beebe family, the house sits on 7 pristine acres surrounded by nearly 400 acres of conservation land and public walking trails. Highfield Hall & Gardens is not your typical historic estate. It is an example of a historic building saved by grassroots community organizing. An effort of tenacity and vision that continues as new research on the structure and its story of the people who lived here add to the building’s significance. It offers world-class music, international art exhibitions, culinary classes, family programs, and year-round special events. For more information, visit www.highfieldhallandgardens.org.
