Cape Cod, MA – [Date] – CARE for the Cape and Islands, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship and sustainability within the hospitality industry, announces the departure of its founder, Jill Talladay, after years of impactful leadership. Jill's exit marks the conclusion of an era defined by her deep commitment to the Cape Cod community and its environment. Jill founded CARE for the Cape and Islands with a vision to inspire businesses and visitors to embrace sustainability by reducing waste, reusing materials, and recycling. Under her leadership, the organization has been instrumental in preserving Cape Cod's natural beauty and cultivating a community-wide ethos of environmental responsibility. Throughout her tenure, Jill’s contributions have left a lasting mark on the region, influencing countless individuals and businesses to adopt sustainable practices. Wendy Northcross, Director of the JFK Museum, remarked, “Jill has been a force for beneficial tourism in our region. The good work of CARE for the Cape and Islands leaves a legacy of environmental stewardship and sustainable economic development. She has always approached her work with strong determination to do good—and she has succeeded.” Jill’s dedication has not only changed mindsets and behaviors on Cape Cod but also gained wider national recognition. At the 2024 World Tourism Day Forum, Jill was honored by the Center for Responsible Travel (CREST) with the Legacy of CARE Award, celebrating her significant contributions to responsible travel. As Jill steps down, Deputy Director Adam Gracia will take over as Interim Executive Director. Adam, along with the board of CARE for the Cape and Islands, is fully committed to ensuring a seamless transition and continuing the organization's mission of sustainability and environmental advocacy.
