Chuck Sturtevant Outstanding Service Award And George Creighton Scholarship Recipients

June 17, 2024 – The Falmouth Commodores are pleased to announce the recipients of the Chuck Sturtevant Outstanding Service Award and the George Creighton Scholarship.

The Chuck Sturtevant Outstanding Service Award is given annually to honor Chuck Sturtevant and recognize his many years of service and dedication to the Falmouth Commodores and the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Avery Johnsen, a graduate of Falmouth High School, is the 2024 recipient of this award. Between 2012 and 2022, Avery and her family hosted 22 Falmouth Commodores players. For three seasons, she was a Falmouth Commodores bat girl. In the Fall, Avery will be attending Appalachian State University, where she will be playing Division 1 Field Hockey. She plans to pursue a career in dentistry.

The George Creighton Scholarship is awarded annually in memory of George Creighton, a long-time volunteer and past president of the Falmouth Commodores. The scholarship recognizes student sports participation, academic achievement, volunteerism, and financial need. This year’s recipients include Declan Norris, Lucas Kapulka, and Thomas Ghossen, all graduates of Falmouth High School.

Declan Norris was a Falmouth Commodores batboy from 2016 through 2019. In 2018, he was chosen by the Cape Cod Baseball League to serve as an All-Star batboy. Declan will be studying marketing at Endicott College in the fall, and playing on their golf team.

Lucas Kapulka served as a batboy and his family was a host family for the Falmouth Commodores in 2019. In the fall, Lucas will attend Roger Williams University and study business administration.

Thomas Ghossen was a Falmouth Commodores batboy. In the fall, Thomas will be attending the University of Tampa, where he looks forward to pursuing a career as a veterinarian.

These individuals will be honored on Tuesday, June 18th, before the Falmouth Commodores game against Brewster. The ceremony will begin at 5:45 p.m., followed by the game at 6:00 p.m. Both will be held at the Guv Fuller Field located behind the Falmouth Senior Center.
