The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod Holiday Giving Campaign Supports Local Nonprofits Serving Children, Families and Food Insecurity December 18, 2023 (Hyannis, MA) – The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod is supporting several local nonprofits during the holiday season, benefiting community members in need throughout the region. A Baby Center, a nonprofit organization that provides essentials to parents of infants living in poverty, is the beneficiary of The Coop’s 12th annual Stuff-a-Stocking program. Coop customers and employees are generously donating items - including diapers, clothing and gift cards – to help ensure the good health and safety of babies on Cape Cod and the Islands. Items can still be dropped off at the giant stockings located at The Coop’s nine branches through Saturday, December 30th. Coop employees, who contribute funds during designated “wear jeans to work” days as part of the bank’s Pay It Forward program, were also able to assist the following nonprofit holiday initiatives: • The Salvation Army’s “Dress A Live Doll,” which pairs volunteers with children whose parents need extra help in making the season bright. Coop employees raised $1,135 to sponsor six area teens. • The United States Marines Toys for Tots program, which distributes gifts to local children in time for the holidays. Coop employees raised $1,095 to purchase 62 toys for the Cape’s traditional holiday “Stuff A Bus” event. “Year after year, I am inspired by and proud of The Coop’s employees for opening their hearts and wallets to help our neighbors in need during the holiday season,” said Lisa Oliver, Chair, CEO and President, The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod. “As we continue to recover from the pandemic and accompanying inflationary pressure, too many Cape Codders are experiencing homelessness, food insecurity and lack of life’s basic necessities. As a true community bank, we are committed to improve the lives of those in the region we serve.” Coop Supports Local Food Pantries on Giving Tuesday For the 10th consecutive year, The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod supported local food pantries on Giving Tuesday, donating $10,000 (or $1,000 each) to 10 local pantries serving communities from Falmouth to Provincetown. Food pantries receiving $1,000 donations from the Coop this year include: Falmouth Service Center, Heroes in Transition, Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Pantry, Sandwich Food Pantry, Yarmouth Food Pantry, Cape Cod Family Table Collaborative, The Family Pantry, Lower Cape Outreach Council, Helping our Women, and the Soup Kitchen in Provincetown. Giving Tuesday was established in 2012 as a dedicated day during the holiday season to encourage people to do good. Since then, Giving Tuesday has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.
