Cape Symphony will begin 2024 with a new member on our Board of Trustees: "We are thrilled to welcome John Miller to the Board,” says Mike Albaugh. “His community leadership and commitment to Cape Cod’s cultural organizations are a testament to his passion for the arts. We are excited to collaborate and further strengthen the Symphony's impact under his guidance." John Miller came to the Cape from his native Pennsylvania in 1970 to continue his 20 year career in radio broadcasting. He was longtime general manager of WQRC, an original owner of WOCN, and classical WFCC's first general manager when it began broadcasting in 1987. He subsequently had management careers at Hyannis-based Software 2000, and later for a major Boston technology industry analyst firm. For the past 25 years he has owned J Miller, Pictureframer & Gallery in Mashpee. John has been involved with more than a dozen Cape Cod nonprofit organizations, including as president of the (then separate) Cape Cod Conservatory, chair of Cape Cod Community College Educational Foundation, and president of Barnstable Land Trust, Cahoon Museum, and Elder Services. Other board roles include Latham Schools, Cotuit Center for the Arts, C&I United Way, Yarmouth and Mashpee Chambers of Commerce, and C&I Chamber Music Festival. He was a founding member of the Cape Museum of Art. John was named Mashpee’s Citizen of the Year in 2021 and serves as Mashpee’s elected Town Moderator. He majored in Finance at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ, is an accomplished classical organist, and has three adult children who all live on the Cape. Mr. Miller joins Board Chair Anthony Panebianco, Vice Chair Jayne Mullen-Sampson, Treasurer Steven Heslinga, Secretary Theresa A. Egan, and Board members Jill Beardsley, Sherley-Ann Belleus, Maria Campbell, John Damon, Amanda Davis, Ellen Dickinson, Lee Ann Hesse, Timothy B. Huber, Gianna Jonas, Joseph King, Arthur Massaro, John H. Meyer, Jamie Selldorff, Robert A. Siegel, Nancy Strickland, and Christopher S. Wilson.
