Philanthropy Partners selects CIWB/ArtWorks for Distinguished Service Award. August 9, 2023, Hyannis, MA...MassHire Cape and Islands Workforce Board (CIWB) has been named the 2023 Outstanding Youth Organization by the Philanthropy Partners of the Cape and Islands (PPCI). The CIWB was recognized by PPCI for ArtWorks, its premier arts enrichment program that has matched artist mentors and high school students in hands-on intensive internships for more than 25 years in the region. In announcing the award, PPCI called ArtWorks “an invaluable asset to our region’s youth.” “We are humbled and grateful to Philanthropy Partners of the Cape and Islands, and those who nominated us, to receive this prestigious award,” said CIWB Executive Director, Kara O’Donnell-Galvin. “ArtWorks is the epitome of collaboration, a core value that the CIWB emphasizes. ArtWorks continues to evolve and thrive and is a testament to our committed partnerships.” In 2023, the CIWB assisted in placing more than 1,200 students across Cape Cod and the Islands in a variety of meaningful internships. In addition to ArtWorks, the CIWB offers many young adult initiatives that focus on career pathway education, STEM education, and personal development. Julie Wake, Executive Director of the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, supported the CIWB’s nomination and credited the CIWB for helping to create career pathways in the creative economy in the region. Said Wake, “MassHire Cape and Island Workforce Board’s outstanding dedication, creativity, and impact in their field truly deserves to be acknowledged and appreciated. It is a privilege to witness their exceptional work, and I was proud to endorse their nomination wholeheartedly.” Said O’Donnell-Galvin, “I am incredibly proud of the entire CIWB team for receiving this award and for the commitment shown to ArtWorks and all our young adult initiatives. I look forward to ensuring that our programs continue to expose a diverse and growing population of students to valuable career and college readiness opportunities.” Philanthropy Partners of Cape and Islands will present the CIWB with the 2023 Outstanding Youth Organization Award during a ceremony at the 26th Annual Philanthropy Day on Cape Cod Conference, scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, 2023 in Hyannis, Massachusetts. The MassHire Cape and Islands Workforce Board is one of 16 workforce boards across the Commonwealth. The CIWB plays a critical role in providing workforce and economic development leadership within the Cape and Islands region, working with a variety of stakeholders including businesses, non-profits, municipalities, and academic partners.
