Falmouth - Falmouth Community Television (FCTV) is pleased to announce that FCTV member producer Kurt Achin has been awarded the 2022 Priscilla “Pucky” Roslansky Memorial Fund Award for his production of Growing Together, a program about Farming Falmouth, a nonprofit organization that supports local agriculture. The program was produced by Achin, a Farming Falmouth board member, in FCTV’s Studio A, with portions recorded on location. Hosted by Achin, the program features Farming Falmouth board members, Patricia Gadsby and Ellie Costa, with an on-location segment featuring Tyler Barron. Growing Together documents the efforts of Farming Falmouth to support local agriculture, encourage the consumption of locally-grown food, and help Falmouth reach its food-producing potential. Kurt Achin currently manages a Community Supported Agriculture program at Coonamessett Farm and has years of experience in media, formerly working in Asia for CNN and Voice of America News. He also hosted a morning radio program in Seoul, South Korea. He became a member of FCTV in May of 2021. Growing Together was a class project in FCTV’s Intro to Studio class. In addition to working on his own programs, he has also contributed pieces for FCTV’s bimonthly Falmouth In Focus program. FCTV Public Channel 13 will replay Growing Together on Tuesday, December 27 at 8:00 AM; Wednesday, December 28 at 7:00 PM; and Thursday, December 29 at 9:30 PM. FCTV Public Channel 13 can also be viewed on FCTV’s Roku and Apple TV channel apps and on Android and iOS devices with the free Cablecast Screenweave app. In 2012, the Falmouth Community Television Board of Directors established the Priscilla “Pucky” Roslansky Memorial Fund in memory of Priscilla “Pucky” Roslansky, Ph.D., of Woods Hole, Massachusetts, a long-time member, producer, and supporter of FCTV. Each year, the fund’s selection committee chooses a program that best represents the ideals that Dr. Roslansky stood for. Along with their production of no less than 30 minutes, applicants must submit a 500-750 word essay detailing how the program supports the values of the Priscilla Roslansky Fund: educating our community about Falmouth issues, improving the political discourse, and building and connecting our community. The winning producer, who must be an active FCTV member, is awarded $250.
