FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth ShareSpace was awarded $30,120 through the Community One Stop for Growth Awards in the Fiscal Year 2023 cycle, the Commonwealth announced recently. In total, 337 local economic development projects received funding in 169 communities, according to state records. Gov. Charlie Baker said $143 million in grants were doled out to those communities in this year's funding round. "We are proud of our collaborative work to ensure that all 351 of MA's cities and towns have the resources, tools and support they need to drive critically important projects that provide a better quality of life for residents, and help communities plan for the future," said Baker. ShareSpace was awarded their share of the grant money through the Collaborative Workspace Program. According to MassDevelopment, collaborative workspaces are "shared work environments that catalyze community, inspiring collaboration, exploration and experimentation among and between local entrepreneurs, artists, designers, scientists, inventors, and small business owners. Collaborative workspaces provide users with access to resources, ideas and networks. These spaces are critical to the growth of the Massachusetts innovation economy, and the proliferation of entrepreneurial activity that they support fosters economic health in their host communities." The award funds will be used to maximize current space by updating the building's unused basement into an additional coworking area for members.
