After 43 years with Cape Cod Broadcasting Media, Dave Read is announcing his retirement. With his vision, commitment, warm, welcoming voice, Dave became a trusted companion informing, entertaining, and helping listeners start their day on 99.9 WQRC his first 21 years and Ocean 104.7 the past 22 years. Over the decades, Dave has been an important, respected team member, and his professionalism, consistency, thoughtful ways, and sense of humor will be missed. In Dave’s words: “After 43 years, it’s time for me to kick back a little and spend more time to with my family and pursue some long-term interests . Informing and entertaining the Cape has been the highlight of my professional life and I will miss it. Our listeners, clients, colleagues, and friends will always hold a special place in my heart.” With Dave’s departure, we are excited to announce John Willis will take the rudder as host for the Ocean 104.7 Morning Show. John knows the Cape well, summering in Falmouth and as a resident later in life. John’s decades of local radio experience and understanding the importance of companionship with his listeners and commitment to community will ensure the continuance to excellence that David created for the Ocean 104.7 morning show. "As I come on board, I want to bring the same energy and welcoming spirit that Dave brought each and every morning. Cape Codders take a proprietary interest in where they live, work, and play, and are generous in giving back to our community. Ocean 104.7’s local programming commitment is to reflect what makes the Cape so special in creating loyalty and friendship. The team here at Ocean 104.7 has been wonderful to me already, and I look forward to working with everyone to continue to bring that consistency that Dave brought. It is an honor to be given the rudder to the Ocean 104.7morning show, and I cannot wait to get started." Dave Read’s final day on the air will be September 2nd. John Willis will begin mornings on Labor Day, September 5th.
