Yarmouth Port, Mass. — During the month of July, CARE will be launching a new campaign called Take Out with CARE as part of its 10th Anniversary celebration. Take Out with CARE raises awareness about the negative environmental impacts of single-use plastic products and reinforces the messages of Plastic Free July. It highlights CARE’s compostable serviceware guide, created in collaboration with Wellfleet Recycling Committee and Woods Hole Sea Grant, and its reusable bamboo serviceware sets to benefit both individuals and food-related businesses. CARE’s bamboo serviceware sets offer an alternative to single use plastic silverware typically provided with take out food. Bamboo products are eco-friendly and 100% biodegradable. The sets may be purchased at Family Table Collaborative in South Yarmouth, the Cape Cod Museum of Art‘s gift shop in Dennis and CARE’s table at the Wellfleet Farmers’ Market held on select Wednesdays in July. Proceeds help to fund CARE’s work and annual grant campaign. People can participate in Take Out with CARE either by visiting one of these locations or contacting CARE directly at info@careforthecapeandislands.org. Jill Talladay, CARE’s Director, sees great value in the Take Out with CARE campaign. She says, “Part of our Take Care Cape Cod campaign is focused on reducing the use of single-use plastic because of the negative impact it has on our environment. By raising awareness and encouraging the use of alternatives such as our bamboo serviceware sets, we hope to inspire the Cape Cod community to adopt more sustainable habits.” The goal of Take Out with CARE is to help keep Cape Cod’s environment clean of plastic waste so that its wildlife and their habitats can remain healthy.
