February 21, 2022, Falmouth, MA - The Falmouth Chamber of Commerce will hold its 108th Annual Meeting and Award Dinner on Wednesday April 27, 2022 at The Sea Crest Beach Hotel, 350 Quaker Road, North Falmouth. The event is sponsored by Community Partner, Cape Cod 5. The 2022 Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award will be bestowed upon Falmouth resident and community advocate Jay Zavala. Mr. Zavala’s dedication to Falmouth and its community, as well as the breadth of his civic activities makes him a standout choice for Citizen of the Year. Mr. Zavala has served as President of the Barnstable County Agricultural Society, Vice President of the American Parkinson Disease Association Massachusetts Chapter, Chair of Continuing & Adult Education Advisory Committee of Upper Cape Regional Technical School, and Vice Chair of the Cape Cod Commission. He has served on the FCTV Advisory Council and as an FCTV production volunteer, the Steering Committee for MMR Homeland Security Coalition, Falmouth Charter Review Committee, Advisory Boards of Neighborhood Falmouth and Falmouth Preservation Alliance, Cape Cod Economic Development Council, Falmouth Cable Advisory Committee, and Strategic Planning Steering Committee of Cape Cod Community College. Jay has also served on several Boards of Directors including Falmouth Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Fairwinds Clubhouse, Falmouth Housing Trust, Open Cape Corporation and Falmouth Economic Development & Industrial Corporation. Other volunteer activities include Jazz Fest Committee, Falmouth Christmas Parade Committee, Falmouth Service Center, Falmouth Road Race, and Entrepreneurship for All. In addition to producing, scripting and emceeing Falmouth’s Annual Veterans Appreciation Breakfast, Mr. Zavala has served as an Election Official and as a Town Meeting Member for over ten years. “It is a sincere privilege to honor Jay as our 2022 Citizen of the Year,” commented Falmouth Chamber President Michael Kasparian. “In addition to being a friend, mentor, and role model for so many of us, Jay has displayed an amazing amount of energy and accomplishment while advocating for our community since moving to Falmouth in 2000.” Please join us in celebrating our 2022 Outstanding Citizen of the Year, Jay Zavala.
