In the spirit of Christmases past, Saint Barnabas’s Memorial Episcopal Church in Falmouth will hold an old-fashioned Christmas fair on Dec. 4 that will celebrate rich holiday traditions with elaborate gift displays and a festive décor. “This is Saint Barnabas’s 91st Annual Christmas Fair,” said Lynn Morse, co- chair of the Episcopal Church Womens Ministry in charge of the event. “This year we will again recreate the joy and wonder of the traditional Christmas fair. Many items to be featured are perennial favorites, including elaborately decorated wreaths and table-top trees, hand- painted and cross-stitched ornaments, creative themed gift baskets, beautiful hand-knit and quilted items, and unique gifts from ‘Grandma’s Attic.’ A children’s table will display gift items priced at $2 or under.” Morse added that the ever-popular home-baked goods table will be stocked with assorted cakes, cookies, pies, jams and candies. Raffle items will include a king-size quilt, an aerial photo of Saint Barnabas’s, homemade giant gingerbread kids, a collectible “Belsnickle” figurine and other distinctive items. Visitors to the fair can purchase a light luncheon to be served in the Parish House from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The menu will include hot chowder, ham and cheese sandwiches, chicken salad wraps and hotdogs. Saint Barnabas’s spirit of giving Saint Barnabas’s has a tradition of giving to the community. Financial proceeds from the fair will be given to a local annual scholarship distribution, the Salvation Army Dress-A-Live Doll Program which provides clothing and toys for needy children and teens, and other local charitable organizations. Hats, gloves, mittens and socks donated by visitors to the fair will be given to the Falmouth Service Center for distribution. For information on how to donate these clothing items in advance, contact the church office at 508-548-3863. The fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Great Hall at Saint Barnabas’s located at 91 Main Street, Falmouth, MA across from the Falmouth Village Green.
