The Rotary Club of Falmouth is pleased to announce the 2020 Women's Athletic Award to graduating senior, Daisha Pena of East Falmouth. Ms. Pena, a co-captain of the Falmouth High School varsity volleyball team, stood out among the scholarship candidates. Her values in life have been instilled in her by her mother who was a teen parent. No matter how little they had, her mother always showed Daisha how to give to others and demonstrated the importance of family and community. Throughout her childhood, Daisha’s mother helped provide her with and supported her relationships with the community that have now molded her to become the leader she is and to have the compassion and understanding of the important principles of service. Along with her athletic achievements, Ms. Pena is an Honor Roll student, a sought-after tutor at Falmouth High School, and a female minority athlete who has overcome adversity. The Rotary Club of Falmouth is proud to award this $1,000 scholarship in support of Ms. Pena’s college education. She will be attending Stonehill College in Easton, MA to study criminal justice. “I am honored to have chosen Daisha for this scholarship and am quite confident she will continue servicing her new college community and beyond” said Amy Wyman, a member of the Rotary Club of Falmouth Scholarship Committee.
