No Place for Hate (NPFH) - Falmouth invites everyone in the community to an active bystander training workshop facilitated by Quabbin Mediation. This free workshop will take place on Saturday, January 11 from 2-4:30-8pm in the Falmouth Public Library's Hermann Foundation Room. Participation is limited, so please RSVP as soon as possible to npfhfalmouth@gmail.com. Please note that No Place for Hate – Falmouth welcomes everyone’s participation and serves the Upper Cape communities. You do not need to be a Falmouth resident to participate. Active Bystanders’ Training helps participants recognize when they are bystanders, analyze situations, and evaluate the consequences for everyone involved. The training heightens bystanders’ power and teaches how they can interrupt harm and generate positive actions by others. Active bystandership does not mean aggression against the harm doer. It means taking responsible action to help people in need instead of remaining passive and becoming complicit. Bystanders gain competencies they need if they decide to act when they witness something they feel is unfair, wrong or troubling. NPFH – Falmouth is a community-based organization whose purpose is to build bridges to combat bias and to promote respect for all people through education and advocacy. This bystander training stems from NPFH – Falmouth’s ongoing work and conviction that community-based conversations, education and reflection are key to making progress in recognizing and fighting bias in Falmouth and on Cape Cod.
