June 18, 2019 (Hyannis, MA) - The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod Charitable Foundation Trust announced a new round of grantees, awarding $39,500 in grants to local organizations for the current quarter of the year. Launched in December of 2018, The Coop Foundation awards grants to 501(c)(3) organizations that enhance quality of life through programs and initiatives that meet the fundamental needs of people in the communities the bank serves. The Foundation’s mission is to cultivate vibrant and thriving community and seeks to partner with organizations working in the fields of economic development and self-sufficiency, community vitality and sustainability, thriving youth and families, education and learning, and health and human care. Grants for the second quarter were awarded to the Cape Cod Art Center to install an elevator and new classrooms to make art accessible to people of all physical abilities ($5,000); the Cape Cod Blue Economy Foundation to support their mission to promote and sustain a maritime-focused economy in the region ($10,000); Housing Assistance Corporation to support their Pathway to Self-Sufficiency Program at the Carriage House shelter in Falmouth ($7,000 this year with a pledge to donate an additional $14,000 over the next 2 years); Provincetown Commons to provide a matching grant for membership subsidies ($5,000); and the YMCA of Cape Cod to support a new Hyannis Village Marketplace to provide accessible and affordable childcare and early childhood education ($12,500 this year with a pledge to donate an additional $12,500 next year). “Through their dedication to the arts, economic development, children, families, and the environment, these organizations positively impact our communities in substantial ways,” said Lisa Oliver, President and CEO of The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, and President of The Coop Foundation Board of Trustees. “We hope these grants will help them continue the great work they do.” “We are excited to partner with The Coop Foundation in an effort to establish lasting economic benefits here on the Cape and Islands through the promotion of our vibrant water based business community," said Jon Hagenstein, a Cape Cod Blue Economy Foundation, Inc. board member.
