Hyannis MA, May 25, 2017 - Cape Abilities has received a $10,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation in support of its Employment & Vocational Skills Training Program located at the Cape Abilities Farm in Dennis. This grant will assist in the funding of a Vocational Specialist, a former Special Education Curriculum Consultant and a Master Gardener, who will provide support to job coaches and farm staff, year-round. The Farm program provides work-based opportunities for individuals with disabilities to build on their successes & gain self-confidence, and develop the vocational skills that set them up for future success. "We are so grateful to have this support from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation," noted Rosalie Edes, President/Executive Director at Cape Abilities. "This funding will allow for the utilization of a person-centered, vocational training approach, which incorporates the goals and interests of each individual in specifically designed skill development so that they can ultimately secure competitive, community-based employment."
