(Hyannis, March 26, 2018) The Cape Cod Healthcare (CCHC) Wound Care Centers have been recognized, together, as a 2017 Center of Distinction by Healogics, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. It is the second consecutive year the Wound Care Centers®, located in Hyannis and Bourne, earned the honor. The two centers were also recipients of the Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence Award for achieving patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days to heal, for two or more consecutive years. In addition, the CCHC Wound Care Center in Hyannis was the recipient of the Healogics President’s Circle Award for Outstanding Performance. “I am so proud of both of the Cape Cod Healthcare’s Care Centers,” said KayBeth Weibel, RN, CWCN, Nurse Manager of the two centers. “Our professionals in both centers have a big heart for our patient population and are completely invested in their success.” The CCHC Wound Care Centers are members of the Healogics network of nearly 700 Wound Care Centers. The CCHC Wound Care Centers provide highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds that have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Advanced treatments include negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. Chronic wounds, which affect upwards of six million patients in the U.S., are a significant burden to patients, clinicians and the U.S. healthcare system, said CCHC Wound Care Medical Director Patrick Flynn, MD. “Over the last several years, wound care has become recognized as a specialty unto itself,” he said. “Most of our physicians and staff have over a decade of experience in wound care and, in addition to their vast knowledge and expertise, they all have a great passion for what they do. This is reflected in the consistently excellent care that our patients receive, and by having received these awards once again.” Cape Cod Healthcare is the leading provider of healthcare services for residents and visitors of Cape Cod. With more than 450 physicians, 5,300 employees and 790 volunteers, Cape Cod Healthcare has two acute care hospitals, the Cape’s leading provider of homecare and hospice services (VNA), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, an assisted living facility, and numerous health programs.
