Edgartown, MA – Martha’s Vineyard Bank announced today that the Martha’s Vineyard Bank Charitable Foundation has awarded $30,450 in its fourth quarter 2020 cycle to non-profits on Island and in the surrounding area. The Grants Committee meets quarterly and is committed to the betterment of our community in the areas of Education, Economic Development, Health & Human Services, Culture, Art & Historic Heritage, and Community Services. The 11 organizations provided funding this quarter are: Cape Cod Marathon 2021 Falmouth Community Television Museums on the Green Falmouth Academy’s Science & Engineering Fair MV Figure Skating Club Sponsorship Massachusetts Military Support Foundation ACE MV Adult & Continuing Education Belonging to Each Other Falmouth VIPs The Oak Bluffs School PTO’s Project Gratitude YMCA of Cape Cod A significant donation was given to Massachusetts Military Support Foundation to aid in its holiday food distribution on Martha’s Vineyard and in Falmouth. As a distributor for the USDA Farmers to Families program, Massachusetts Military Support Foundation transported fresh food boxes to families in both communities for families struggling with continued food insecurity. A multitude of local agencies and many volunteers helped with the distribution effort with special coordination efforts provided by Rebecca Haag of Island Gown Initiative, Alicia Nicholson of Vineyard Committee on Hunger, and Joe Capobianco of Good Shepherd Parish. Each family received a 32-pound box of groceries including cheese, produce, milk and meats. The first quarter 2021 application deadline date for the next cycle of funding is January 14, 2021and the Educational Mini Grant deadline date is Friday, June 18, 2021.
