The annual fundraiser will be held virtually this year celebrating the past, present and future of the Center. Entertainment Tonight . . . This Week will stream nightly at 7 pm from October 20 – 24, through the Center’s website, artsonthecape.org, and YouTube page. Entertainment Tonight is traditionally the Center’s biggest fundraiser and best party of the year. Says Executive Director David Kuehn, “When it became clear that we would not be able to celebrate in person this summer, we began looking at alternatives, knowing that we could never really duplicate the experience of a live ET. Going virtual over five nights gives us the opportunity to celebrate all the aspects of the Center - the Gallery and classes as well as concerts and theatrical performances. We also look forward to reaching a broader audience of friends and supporters.” Kuehn promises some surprises along the way. This virtual event will feature highlights of past productions, from “Virtual Decadence”, presented by the Center in September, and archival footage, along with interviews, testimonials, and some very special guests. The hourly livestream will also focus on how the organization continues to operate during the pandemic. Kuehn notes, “Our gallery is open, classes are running virtually and in-person. We were the first to bring back live theater on the Cape with our outdoor production of “The Zoo Story”. We are keeping the arts alive and hope the community will support and enjoy these efforts”. Along with the entertainment, registered guests can participate in a silent auction, featuring celebrity memorabilia, artwork, and experiences only the Center can offer. Guests will also have the exclusive opportunity to purchase tickets to the Center’s planned celebration of a return to gatherings without masks or social distancing. “We’re calling it ‘The Unmasked Ball’, an evening of dancing, singing and hugging, date to be announced”, says Kuehn. There is no cost to register, but donations will be gratefully accepted. Also, everyone who registers or donates during the event will be entered to win two tickets to a year of Center productions – every show, concert, and presentation, including nationally known artists and Broadway stars.
