FAIRHAVEN, MA – July 1, 2020 – Peter J. Muise, First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union’s President/CEO, has announced his retirement effective January 26, 2021. After 24 years of service to the credit union, Muise says he’s looking forward to spending more quality time with his family, volunteering and traveling. Under his leadership, First Citizens’ has seen significant asset and member growth over the years. His commitment to public and community service has earned him wide recognition. He has received numerous awards and accolades recognizing the positive impact he has made throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. “Peter’s dedication in specifically supporting education, homelessness and the arts and culture will leave a lasting impact on many”, said Jeff Riley, Chairman of the Board. Muise currently is the Chairman of the Board of the Housing Assistance Corporation on Cape Cod as well as an Executive Committee Member of the Homeless Service Providers Network in New Bedford. Upon his retirement, Muise will remain a member of the Board of Directors of First Citizens’. “On behalf of the board, senior management, and team members of First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union, I want to thank Peter for his years of service and the leadership role that has made First Citizens’ the exceptional organization it is today,” said Board Chairman Riley. “Peter’s contributions to the credit union and the community will always be valued and are worthy of admiration. We wish him a happy, healthful and well- deserved retirement.” The board of directors would also like to announce that First Citizens’ Chief Operating Officer, Christopher Howard, was appointed President/COO effective immediately. Upon the retirement of Mr. Muise in January of 2021, Mr. Howard will succeed him as President/CEO. Howard comes to the position with 8 years of experience in several capacities at the credit union. His most recent experience is acting as First Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer. “Like Peter, Chris shares a passion for this organization, our team members, members and the communities we serve,” said Riley, “We look forward to continued success under his leadership”.
