With a new bonus opportunity for essential workers, comes a new donation opportunity Community is not a tangible thing but instead, a feeling. This is more apparent now than ever before and Mid- Cape Home Centers is proof. When Mid-Cape was first deemed an essential business by Governor Baker, they knew that operations must be updated to immediately reflect the safety guidelines of the Local Government and CDC. Mid-Cape took this advice one step further when they closed their doors to the public and began operating on a call-in/curbside pick-up and delivery only business model, to ensure the highest level of safety for both their team members and customers. Mid-Cape Leadership immediately recognized the challenge this would bring about for their team and implemented a generous daily bonus opportunity for their staff members reporting on-site to work. Quickly, Mid-Cape's Leadership Team recognized the strain this pandemic has brought upon the local community. While hosting appreciation showcases at both Cape Cod Hospital and Falmouth Hospital, they knew they wanted to do more. President Jack Stevenson, says "With so many of our team members sharing how appreciative they were that Mid-Cape was deemed an essential business and that they were still able to work, it got me thinking. How great would it be if we all got together to help all of those in our community that weren’t so lucky?”. Tuesday, May 5th, the bonus opportunity for the Mid-Cape team members was set to end. However, with the recent news regarding the extension of the Shelter-In-Place order, Leadership decided to extend this offer through mid-May but this time, with a chance for the team to give back. Each team member was now given the opportunity to donate a percentage directly from their bonus or paychecks to a local food bank of their choice. Even better, Mid-Cape was able to team up with a vendor partner, SBC Cedar Shingles, who was willing to match $2,000 of the employee donations. It is with great appreciation, admiration and respect for their team that Mid-Cape announces together, while apart, they have united to raise over $12,000 dollars to be distributed between “Family Pantry of Cape Cod” and “Support the Soupman” of Bridgewater, Ma. This provides nearly 30,000 meals to those in need on Cape Cod, and will help fund initiatives such as brown bag lunches and more portable showers, across SE Mass. Mid-Cape Home Centers is proud to continue to raise money for these food banks. Additionally, they have added a donation option to their website.
