Falmouth Community Television (FCTV) announces the appointment of their CEO Debra Rogers to the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Community Media (ACM) as the ACM Northeast Region Representative. The Alliance for Community Media (ACM), founded in 1976 represents over 3,000 Public, Educational and Governmental (PEG) access organizations and community media centers throughout the country. The ACM works to protect the interests of these access centers and those who use PEG facilities and equipment to advance their causes through cable television and the Internet. Rogers previously served on the ACM National Board of Directors from 1998 to 2004 and from 2008 - 2014. She was Chair of the Board of Directors from 2009 - 2012 and currently serves on the Public Policy Committee. "The NE Region Board of Directors is pleased that Ms. Rogers has agreed to return as our NE Region representative during this time in our organization's history. Her experience and leadership will be invaluable as we face challenges to the sustainability of community media. I look forward to her collaborative approach of envisioning our future in partnership with the Alliance for Community Media Board of Directors and the Alliance for Communications Democracy," said Erica Jones, ACM-NE Region Board President. Rogers was also recently appointed as the NE Region Representative to the Alliance for Communications Democracy (ACD) and In June 2019 elected to the ACD Executive Board. The mission of the ACD is to participate in significant court cases and FCC proceedings, and to advocate for constitutional rights, franchise enforcement, media ownership, and other concerns of public, educational, and Governmental (PEG) access. “We’re pleased to have Debra join the Alliance for Communication Democracy (ACD) as the representative of the Alliance for Community Media Northeast Region. In addition, she has also been elected to serve as the Secretary of ACD. Debra’s experience and commitment to community media will contribute greatly to ACD,” said Sue Buske, Chair of ACD “I look forward to returning to the ACM Board of Directors and continuing my work with ACD to preserve and protect community media here in Falmouth and across the country. At a time of unprecedented media consolidation, it is more vital than ever that local voices are heard.
