Mashpee –Community Health Center of Cape Cod joined the nation in celebrating National Health Center Week this month with a number of events for CHC staff, patients and supporters. National Health Center Week is an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades. Nationally, community health centers serve 28 million Americans, a number that continues to rise along with the demand for affordable primary care services. While they were originally established to act as a safety net for uninsured and lower-income individuals and families, community health centers increasingly have become providers of choice for all. In addition to accepting most private insurances, data continues to show the quality of care offered at health centers is as good as – and often better than – care provided in other settings. Community Health Center of Cape Cod is a vital part of the community, invested in the overall health and wellness of Cape Cod. To celebrate Health Center Week, the Health Center hosted a Patient Appreciation Day during the week. This was an opportunity for staff to thank the more than 17,000 patients in-person, online and via social media. CHC also hosted a breakfast to recognize more than 40 staff members who have been with the Health Center for 3, 5, 10 and 15-years. Community Health Center of Cape Cod is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center that provides access to health care for adults and children with MassHealth, Commonwealth Care, Medicare, private insurance or no insurance at all. Services include primary and preventive care, dental care, behavioral health, optometry, pharmacy and coordinated case management at locations in Bourne, Centerville, Falmouth and Mashpee.
