Mashpee – Community Health Center of Cape Cod is a proud participant of the Reach out and Read Program. Reach Out and Read is a national nonprofit organization that gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together. The Health Center has been collecting new and gently used books from the community at large to be able to provide to their younger patients. Earlier this year, the Health Center received a significant donation of books from the Cape and Islands United Way. The books are provided to pediatric patients on Health Center visits to help enhance their learning experience. Reach Out and Read currently serves 4.7 million children and their families. The Reach Out and Read network brings together 32,000 medical providers at over 6,000 program sites in all 50 States. The model is endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
