Mashpee – Maryanne C. Bombaugh, MD, MSc, MBA, FACOG, an obstetrician/gynecologist who has been caring for patients for more than 25 years who is currently a gynecologist at Community Health Center of Cape Cod, was elected president of the Massachusetts Medical Society. Dr. Bombaugh, a Falmouth resident and a veteran of the United States military, will serve a one-year term as the top officer of the medical society, the statewide professional association of physicians and medical students with more than 25,000 members. She joined the staff of Community Health Center of Cape Cod in 2016. Dr. Bombaugh earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed her internship at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston Texas and her residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Bombaugh earned her undergraduate degree from Smith College, a Master of Science degree from the School of Public Health at the University of Massachusetts and her Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Bombaugh has a history of extensive service to the Massachusetts Medical Society, including positions on the Committee on Strategic Planning, Committee on the Quality of Medical Practice, Committee on Finance, Committee on Women in Medicine, and multiple Task Forces, including Physician Communication and Opioids, Physician Burnout and Governance. She is the current chair of the Committee on Strategic Planning, and previous chair of the organization’s Committee on Legislation. Dr. Bombaugh also serves as a delegate to the American Medical Association (AMA) from Massachusetts, was recently appointed by the AMA as a member to its Council on Legislation and is a director on the board of Coverys. Community Health Center of Cape Cod is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center that provides access to health care for adults and children regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
