The Town of Falmouth Bikeways Committee invites everyone to join in a winter hot chocolate community bike ride along the beautiful Shining Sea Bikeway on Saturday afternoon, March 16. The group will depart from the West Falmouth parking lot adjacent to the Bikeway along Old Dock Road at 2:00 P.M. and ride to Woods Hole, a roughly 15-mile round trip ride. We’ll stop at Quick’s Hole Tavern for hot chocolate and snacks before riding back towards West Falmouth. This special winter ride is suitable for all ages and abilities and especially geared to those who don’t usually ride in the winter. Come give it a try – it’s already getting warmer out there. If the full round trip is too much for you, you can join the group along the way. Anticipated arrival time at the Trunk River parking lot, should you wish to join there (a good option for younger children) is approximately 2:30 P.M. We 'll enjoy hot chocolate at Quick's Hole Tavern in Woods Hole, courtesy of proprietor Beth Colt and her staff, as well as snacks provided by members of the Bikeways Committee. This event is limited to 50 riders and requires an advance RSVP by March 11 to falmouthbikewayscomm@gmail.com. There is no rain date scheduled, but the ride will be cancelled if snow or sleet makes for treacherous riding. We hope you will join this winter ride, which was originally inspired by the committee’s screening of the film "A Winter of Cyclists,” about a group of Boulder area bike commuters who challenge each other to ride at least 50 days during one winter. If they can do it for 50, we can do it for one afternoon, right?
