CARE and Eastham Chamber to Unveil Water Refill station at Visitor Information Center

The community is invited to help celebrate this latest installation and contribution to marine debris reduction.

Yarmouth, MA - CARE (Creating A Responsible Environment) for the Cape & Islands and Eastham Chamber of Commerce will be holding a ribbon cutting of the newly installed water refill station at the Eastham Visitor Information Booth, 1700 State Highway, Eastham on Saturday, September 17, at 9am and extends an invitation to the community to participate.

This new water refill station is a collaborative effort by the Town of Eastham, Eastham Chamber of Commerce, Foran Realty and CARE for the Cape & Islands and is one of 6 water refill stations recently installed in the town of Eastham. “This location is significant due to its high visibility and convenient location for the millions of visitors and residents who pass by each year on the way to the Cape Cod National Seashore and other outer Cape locations” Jill Talladay, CARE’s Executive Director explained.

CARE has funded a series of refill stations throughout Cape Cod as part of their mission to prevent marine debris by encouraging reuse and eliminating single use plastic. This refill station was supported through donations made to Take Care Cape Cod’s “Think Like its 1620 “ campaign designed to return the Cape to its pristine condition in 1620 and from a generous donation from Foran Realty. Foran Realty offers full service sales, vacation rental and property management services with offices in Dennis and Eastham. “My wife and I have chosen to live on Cape Cod and raise our children here because we love the natural environment and way of life here. It is imperative that we do our part to maintain it for generations to come. Our livelihood depends upon it. That is why we support CARE for the Cape & Islands and projects like these that benefit us all” Patrick Foran stated.

About Care for the Cape & Islands
CARE for the Cape & Island mission is to inspire stewardship to preserve and protect the natural environment, cultural and historical treasures of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket. Founded in 2012, CARE seeks to encourage, support, and create opportunities for visitors and residents to donate their “time, talent, and treasure” to help preserve and protect our region’s exquisite natural beauty, plant and wildlife habitats, Cape & Islands culture, and history.

Since 2012, CARE has
? Activated 4,200+ volunteer hours (delivering $100k of value to the community) to clean up and improve community infrastructure.
? Funded 50+ projects, including water filling stations, cigarette butt collectors, historical trail development and other amenities that benefit all of us.
? Spearheaded the Take Care Cape Cod campaign and bi-annual summits that have brought together more than 70 likeminded organizations to educate, inspire and boost our collective impact and to address challenges of solid waste and plastic pollution that impacts our land and marine environments.

About Take Care Cape Cod
Take Care is a messaging campaign that originated in Lake Tahoe and was introduced in 2019 to Cape Cod by CARE for the Cape & Islands. The messages are simple, eye catching and humorous to encourage stewardship. For example, messages encourage proper disposal of dog waste, cigarette butts and general litter. Earlier this summer it introduced the three ARRR’s campaign using a friendly pirate that asks people to Reduce Reuse Recycle in order to reduce waste. Learn more at
