As part of new Steward Health Choice health plan for MassHealth patients, Cape Cod Healthcare and local doctors will play key roles in improved, local MassHealth care coordination December 6, 2017 – The Cape Cod Healthcare ACO (Accountable Care Organization), is a partnership between Cape Cod Healthcare and its most closely affiliated physicians. It was formed in order to integrate clinically and better coordinate care for local patients. Effective March 1, 2018, Steward Health Choice, a new plan offered by Steward Health Care, will participate in the MassHealth ACO program as part of a major statewide restructuring of how care is delivered to MassHealth members. Hundreds of physicians in the Cape Cod area will participate in Steward Health Choice. Just like Cape Cod Healthcare ACO and Steward Health Choice, effective March 1, 2018, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) throughout the state will be available to help improve the experience and outcomes of MassHealth members. “We are pleased to partner with Steward to better serve our MassHealth population,” said Christian Brown, Senior Vice President of Managed Care for Cape Cod Healthcare. “Patients on Cape Cod can look forward to better care coordination and improved health with this creative and innovative model.” “We are excited to welcome MassHealth patients into our new ACO plan, Steward Health Choice,” said Dr. Mark Girard, President of Steward Health Care Network. “It’s wonderful that the MassHealth patients in Cape Cod communities and at Cape Cod Healthcare will have access to this superior form of health coverage that for too long was limited only to Medicare and commercial patients. We applaud the state for these reforms.”
