A free panel discussion moderated by Mindy Todd Hyannis, Mass. - Hope Hospice is partnering with Russ Lemcke, Falmouth author of If I Could I Would: An Inspiring Story of a Young Girl Who Lived Life to the Fullest, for a free panel discussion in the Hermann Foundation Room at the Falmouth Public Library on Saturday, October 7, 2017, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Mindy Todd, managing director of WCAI and producer and host of WCAI’s award-winning public affairs program, The Point, will be the moderator. Rounding out the panel will be Lindsay Coe, pediatric palliative service manager for HopeHealth. When a child receives a life-limiting diagnosis, how do people cope, and what supports and services are available to help with emotional and physical well-being of the entire family? The panel will discuss how people cope in these most difficult circumstances with topics including treatment options, insurance, finances, school accommodations and the well-being of the family. Lemcke’s book touches on the love, grief and courage he and his family experienced when his daughter Stephanie battled with cancer from an early age, which ended her life when she was 19. It has garnered local attention as a way to discuss topics surrounding illness, death and personal struggles. The Falmouth-based author will be signing copies of his book available for sale at the panel through Eight Cousins. All proceeds are being donated to Hope Hospice to support their mission of caring for people with serious illness and their families. The panel is open to all and is free of charge. Reservations are not needed. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, please call (774) 487-8731.
