Cotuit Center for the Arts presents “Lee Squared: An Evening with Peggy Lee and Liberace” on Saturday, August 26, at 7:30 PM. Liberace lived a life of flamboyance, sparkle, and lavish costumes. In this funny and touching tribute, the virtuoso musician dazzles once again, joined by his equally glamourous partner, Peggy Lee, whose sultry swing keeps the evening sizzling. New York City entertainers David Maiocco and Chuck Sweeney reprise their iconic roles as two music legends who defined four decades of music and pop culture. Maiocco pays tribute to Liberace, the colorful pianist and candelabra enthusiast, and Sweeney keeps the memory of Peggy Lee alive with a fevered impersonation that includes a heavy dose of camp hilarity. One reviewer called the show “a mix of outrageously flamboyant and comic brilliance,” “pieced together with love and respect.” Maiocco and Sweeney are each Bistro and MAC Award winners, for Musical Direction and Outstanding Impersonation, respectively, and they recently jointly won the 2017 Bistro Aware for “Lee Squared” in the category of Outstanding Musical Comedy Duo. Tickets are $30, $28 for seniors and veterans, and $25 for members. Premium tables with wine are available, as are Dinner + Show packages with Villaggio Ristorante.
