Falmouth, MA - Falmouth Community Television (FCTV) held its Annual Meeting of Members at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel on May 30, 2017. In a unanimous vote, FCTV members re-elected President Ahmed Mustafa and Linda Davis to the Board of Directors. In addition to the annual election, FCTV handed out annual awards and members were treated to a video presentation of the Year In Review. Members were also invited to have their pictures taken on a red carpet in front of an FCTV backdrop and enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and refreshments overlooking Old Silver Beach before sitting down to a buffet dinner. Executive Director/CEO Debra Rogers began the meeting by welcoming and thanking the members, viewers, sponsors and community for their support and engagement with FCTV over the last year. Susan Moran, Chair of the Falmouth Board of Selectmen, State Representative David Vieira, State Senator Vinny deMacedo and Congressman William Keating representative Anthony Morse then commended the organization and its members for its service to the community. Representative Vieira also spoke in support of An Act Supporting Community Access Television (H2682 & S1857) which would require cable providers to carry community channels on the HD tier and on the electronic program guide. Production and Education Coordinator Allen Russell presented Falmouth High School senior Alex Corey with the Youth Volunteer of the Year award, acknowledging her commitment to volunteering as crew on numerous productions including Commodores Baseball, Falmouth in Focus, Falmouth Road Race and Live Election Coverage. He noted that it was her work on election coverage that inspired her to continue her education where eventually she hopes to become a political pundit. She will be attending the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester this fall. Debra Rogers presented the Volunteers of the Year award to the husband and wife team of Donna Buckley and Troy Clarkson for their work on FCTV Live Election coverage and for Troy’s Take, an on-location feature and program highlighting the people and places of our community, shining a spotlight on topics both lighthearted and serious. Troy’s Take, recorded by Donna and hosted by Troy, has tackled stories as diverse as homelessness in Falmouth, to loss of life, and lighter topics including the beauty of our community, art, culture, storytelling and everything in between. Debra also presented the Sponsor of the Year award to Sea Crest Beach Hotel which she noted has consistently and generously supported FCTV efforts to keep current with new technologies in order to produce state of the art coverage of Falmouth meetings, events and happenings. General Manager Clark Guinn and the entire staff were recognized for making this local business a welcoming community gathering place even while undergoing transitions over the years. Program Coordinator Anthony Sadera presented the Producer of the Year award to Marie Younger Blackburn for her Driven Women TV program which promotes her mission of fostering communication, growth, celebration and collaboration. Marie, the founder and event planner of the Cape Cod Conference for Women, has featured dozens of women from the worlds of entertainment, business, politics and literature on her television program. In her acceptance remarks, she spoke about how FCTV has helped her extend her mission and empowered her and her volunteer crew to be more effective communicators. She also talked about the positive response she’s gotten from Driven Women TV. After the award presentations, President of the FCTV Board of Directors, Ahmed Mustafa conducted the Annual Meeting of Members, summarizing some of FCTV’s many achievements outlined in the Annual Report that was distributed to all attendees. He then presented the audience with the Year In Review video, which highlighted the programs, events, people and accomplishments that made 2016 a successful year at FCTV. The minutes from the 2016 Annual Meeting were presented and approved, and an election was conducted by Board Secretary Pat Thatcher that re-elected Ahmed Mustafa and Linda Davis to the Board of Directors for three-year terms of office. Following the Annual Meeting of members, The FCTV Board held the Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors. The following officers were re-elected; Ahmed Mustafa, Chair, Kevin K. Lynch, Treasurer, Pat Thatcher, Secretary. The other members of the Board of Directors include: Linda Davis, Jeffrey Oppenheim, Michael Duffany, Michael Palmer and Michael Finegold.
