E. Falmouth, MA (March 28, 2017): Rebate programs run by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), that were previously restricted to residential properties, have been expanded to include small businesses and non-profits who install renewable heating, hot water and cooling technologies at their facilities. “The state and MassCEC are making this commitment to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, create jobs, and reduce consumer energy expenditures,” says MaryEllen Donald, Sales & Marketing Manager at The Fuel Company in E. Falmouth, MA. “It is a great way for a homeowner or business owner to reduce their environmental impact while cutting their energy costs.” The Fuel Company is one of the lead heating & cooling contractors on the Cape to be certified as a qualified installer for the MassCEC rebate program. MassCEC has made a $30 million, five-year commitment to increase the use of clean, cost-effective heating and cooling systems in homes and businesses across the state. Newer, more efficient technologies can help users save money on heating and cooling bills and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while still maintaining a high level of reliability. Newer heating equipment is generally more cost-effective to operate than traditional systems and reduce a company’s carbon footprint, all while maintaining a comfortable interior environment. One of the most popular high-efficiency technologies eligible for the MassCEC rebate program is air-source heat pumps (ASHPs), a category which includes ductless heating and cooling systems. A ductless heat pump system has the advantage of being a year ‘round system, providing cost-effective and energy-efficient heating during the winter, with the ability to switch over to cooling during the hot summer months. While traditional systems burn fuel to create heat, a ductless heat pump instead works by moving heat into, or out of, a space. Though they require electricity to operate, efficient ASHPs use 40-70 percent less electricity than traditional electric-resistance heating. Rebates of up to $93,750 are available for businesses that install an ASHP system.
