The Falmouth Jewish Congregation will host its second Community Passover Seder on Tuesday, April 11, the second night of Passover, from 6:00 – 9:30 P.M. at the Coonamessett Inn, Falmouth. The congregation invites all members of the community to join us for this Seder, which is designed to respond to the growing interest within the broader community about the Jewish observance of Passover. The Passover Seder is the most widely-observed ritual in Jewish life, a time-honored opportunity for Jews throughout the world to connect with their past and their community. Come discover why a Seder is more than a meal, why this night is truly different from other nights. It is a retelling of Jewish history through song, story, music and food drawing from both tradition and innovation. You need only bring your enthusiasm, your sense of community spirit, and a hearty appetite for great food, a wonderful Seder and the camaraderie of your fellow attendees. This will be a traditional Passover Seder--a Jewish ritual observance–and an opportunity for a first-hand, participatory experience of an ancient rite. The Seder will be conducted by Rabbi Elias Lieberman utilizing a user-friendly haggadah (Passover text) and will include live music. Members of the Falmouth Jewish Congregation will serve as hosts at each table to make guests feel comfortable and involved. It will be celebratory, festive, and fun for all ages. Children are especially encouraged to be present. The Seder will last from 6:00 – 9:30 P.M. Participation is by advance reservation only and seating is limited. Forms, due by March 31, are available on the congregation’s website (www.falmouthjewish.org) or at the congregation’s office at 7 Hatchville Road. Because experience has shown that this is a popular event, so we encourage you to return your form and payment early. You may request a chicken or vegetarian meal and indicate seating requests. While we will make every effort to accommodate seating requests, large groups will likely be divided into smaller groups that mix with Falmouth Jewish Congregation hosts and other attendees. The cost of the Seder for non-members is $45 for adults and $22 for children age 13 and younger and includes a 3% contribution to the organization MAZON: “A Jewish Response to Hunger.” Since 1985, MAZON, with the support of the Jewish community, has granted over $50 million to prevent and alleviate hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds, including the Falmouth Service Center. The Falmouth Jewish Congregation on Cape Cod is a vibrant, Reform congregation affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ). Our community represents a diverse, inclusive, participatory family where congregants from all backgrounds are welcomed with warmth and respect.
