YARMOUTHPORT – The Cape Cod Foundation has announced that grant applications to the Gay and Lesbian Equity (GALE) Fund for 2017 are now being accepted. The application process is entirely online, and proposals must be received by midnight on Friday, March 17th. The GALE Fund, established in 1998, raises awareness and support for issues affecting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and questioning (LGBTQ) community on Cape Cod and the Islands. Since GALE’s inception, the fund has raised and distributed more than $250,000 to local organizations supporting programs that improve the lives of LGBTQ individuals and their families. The GALE Fund grants program encourages informed, relevant, collaborative, and effective programming about LGBTQ issues, responding to the most pressing needs identified by the community. Advocacy for LGBTQ at-risk community members is a priority. The GALE Fund is seeking proposals that include, but are not limited to, activities and programs focusing on: Equal/Human/Civil Rights, Youth and Elders, Health Care, Arts and Culture, and Education. Programs addressing LGBTQ immigration are also welcomed. GALE Fund grants typically range from $500 to $3,000, though larger requests for comprehensive proposals are considered. Special consideration is given to projects in which the people who are targeted in the proposal will have a voice in the process, from conception and design to implementation and evaluation.
