September 30, 2016, Mashpee, MA – The Cape Cod Children’s Museum hosted a reception Tuesday, evening, September 27th to celebrate the official launch of their newly renovated Music Room. In addition to a beautiful new mural painted by artist Karen Scata, the exhibit features an variety of colorful handheld instruments; a set of multi-sized Samba drums; a custom made PVC pipe xylophone (in the style of Blue Man Group); a scale of reed-based music pads; and a wall-mounted Sonora for children to explore. These instruments will serve to ignite all areas of a child's development: intellectual, social and emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. Sarah Daley, Chief Play Officer of the Museum remarked during her presentation at the event, “Music is universal. It inspires creativity, sparks imagination and is crucially beneficial to a child’s early development.” Instructor Joseph Dudzinski and talented students from Cape Conservatory provided musical entertainment and demonstrated the power of music to influence mood and communicate emotion. Also in attendance were State Representative David Vieira, Mashpee Town Manger Rodney Collins, Assistant Town Manager Wayne Taylor, Mashpee Selectmen John Cotton and John Cahalane, and Interim School Superintendent Patricia DeBoer. The Cape Cod Children’s Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The Museum is open seven days a week, year round and is located at 577 Great Neck Road South, Mashpee, MA.
