Sandwich – On Thursday, August 25, Therese Geary and Jennifer Mason presented Diana Franchitto, President & CEO of HopeHealth, a check nearing $70,000 for funds raised from Cape Angels, “A Night of Lights.” The sold-out benefit, held July 9, 2016 at Allen Harbors Yacht Club in Harwich MA, was a fundraiser to support Hope Care for Kids, HopeHealth’s Pediatric Palliative Care program. The evening included: a live and silent auction, a poignant video, traditional Cape Cod fare and dancing. HopeHealth’s PediPal program provides pain and symptom management, assessment and case management, spiritual care, social services and counseling for children and family members—especially siblings. Included in this program are complimentary therapies such as: music, massage and child life services. It also provides volunteer support, respite care and bereavement care for family members. This palliative care service is partially funded through a contract with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Pediatric Palliative Care Network; the remaining costs are funded through donations. HopeHealth is one of eight PediPal providers in Massachusetts.
