Tuesday, April 5 marks 60th year of Inspiring Joy through the Arts On April 5, 2016 the Cape Conservatory celebrates 60 years of inspiring and enriching artistic experiences in the Cape Cod community and beyond. Since 1956, the Conservatory has been, and will always be, committed to providing the highest caliber arts education possible. The Conservatory is equally committed to making the arts more accessible to students of all ages and being a continual source of inspiration—inside the classroom and out in the community. In 2010, the Conservatory merged with the Cape Symphony, forming the largest arts organization on Cape Cod. The synergy between the two arts organizations brings unparalleled educational and entertainment opportunities to Cape Cod and beyond. Careful faculty selection and impactful program development have contributed to the Conservatory’s success. More than 60 outstanding individuals comprise our team of teaching artists. Each one has an exceptional educational background along with extensive teaching and performing experience. Today more than 1,200 students of all ages and skills levels participate in over 70 programs, as well as private and group vocal and instrumental instruction, including instruction under the Suzuki Method. In the dance studios, the bar is set high with a full suite of classical ballet classes and, for those who move to a different beat, the Conservatory offers jazz and contemporary dance classes. Creative art and photography offerings enhance the program, and an arts-infused, academically inspired preschool opens the door for little ones to develop a life-long interest in and love for the arts. The Conservatory’s flagship ensembles, the Cape Youth Orchestra and the Cape Cod Children’s Chorus, bring students together from across the Cape and the Islands to sing and play together in harmony. To augment Arts education in schools across the Cape & Islands, the Conservatory offers several outreach programs, with over 14,000 students participating. The Conservatory is a member of the National Guild for Community Arts Education, and a partner with other local Arts organizations, sponsoring programs, exhibitions and events that enrich our community. Throughout our anniversary year, the Conservatory invites you – our students and supporters from across the region – to participate in a celebration of the Arts.
