YARMOUTHPORT – The Cape Cod Foundation has announced the launch of its 2016 online scholarship application process. The Foundation administers over 70 scholarship funds for both high school and college/adult students. Most of the scholarships available through The Cape Cod Foundation will have a deadline of midnight on April 1. However, interested applicants are encouraged to carefully review the Scholarship Information Booklet prior to beginning the online application process, so that they know the criteria, deadlines, and application requirements for each scholarship. This booklet, as well as links to the various online applications, can be found at www.capecodfoundation.org. Among the more than 70 scholarship funds, four are being offered for the first time this year: • The Logan Dunne Memorial Scholarship will support graduates of Nauset Regional High School with a preference for those who have overcome a serious challenge, demonstrated compassion and community service and/or are interested in pursuing college degrees in math, science, psychology or engineering. • The Jay Elliott Memorial Scholarship will support a current or incoming student who is pursuing a degree or certificate in Visual Arts or Graphic Design at Cape Cod Community College, or who has earned their associates degree at CCCC and is continuing on to a four-year college to earn a degree in Visual Arts or Graphic Design. • The Live for Lou Drug Counseling Scholarship will support a student who is pursuing new or continuing education in the form of a certificate, license, undergraduate or advanced degree, or other formal education to pursue a career as a substance abuse counselor. • The Leo Lucas Memorial Scholarship will support a female graduate of Cape Cod Community College who will be pursuing a bachelors, masters, or doctorate level degree in any field at an accredited institution of higher learning. Applicants must have a legally documented physical disability or be a single or divorced woman with at least one minor child in her custody pursuing higher education. Last year, The Cape Cod Foundation awarded more than $375,000 in scholarships to 111 students from Cape Cod and the Islands. The Foundation also administers scholarships for its supporting organization, the Cape Cod Association, one of the oldest and largest independent scholarship funds in New England, which last year awarded $450,000.
