(Hyannis – February 1, 2016) Cape Cod Healthcare and the Cape Cod Mall have teamed up to provide a safe way to exercise during the winter months. The Healthy Parks, Healthy People Mall Walking Program is a safe, convenient way for walkers to keep up their fitness regimen in spite of the cold. Follow the mile-marked trail around the mall and meet twice weekly with a Cape Cod Healthcare exercise physiologist to monitor your blood pressure, have your BMI assessed and learn health and wellness tips. Walkers can monitor their own progress in a personal passport available at the Cape Cod Healthcare kiosk or at Cape Cod Mall offices. The mall is open to walkers at 8 a.m. daily and a health professional will staff the kiosk on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8-11 a.m. through mid-June to help you maintain your health and wellness goals. A Mall Walking Program introductory breakfast will be held at the Cape Cod Healthcare kiosk in the Mall Food Court at 9 a.m. on Feb. 9, 2016. The Healthy Parks, Healthy People Winter Walking Program at the Cape Cod Mall is an extension of Healthy Parks, Healthy People, a partnership of Cape Cod Healthcare and the National Park Service which debuted last summer. Seashore rangers led trail walks, while CCHC clinicians provided health screenings and advice. This program will resume in June with new programming, including specialized walks and programs with physicians and naturalists.
