Mashpee – Community Health Center of Cape Cod has hired Mashpee resident Laura Kanter, PhD, as its first Director of Integrated Services. In this role, Dr. Kanter will support the integration of behavioral health, complex care and primary care, working closely with Behavioral Health Director Alice Cook and Complex Care Manager Elizabeth Clark. In addition, she will develop community programs in the Health Center's four office locations in Mashpee, Falmouth, Bourne and Centerville, and will serve as a consultant to the behavioral health team to provide crisis intervention as needed. Prior to joining the Health Center, Dr. Kanter was the Managing Director at the Brookline Community Mental Health Center in Brookline. She received her undergraduate degree at University of New Hampshire and her doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Boston College. Community Health Center of Cape Cod’s Complex Care Program is a primary care-based program that addresses the needs of patients with complex needs and multiple co-morbidities, including patients living with diabetes. The complex care team works with patients’ primary care providers to devise a wellness plan that may incorporate dietary changes, exercise, education, and guidance.
