It's Follow-Up Friday with Career Change Dog 🐾 Wheeler! Wheeler, has been a charismatic star honing his skills with the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation (SDF) and is making leaps and bounds towards his next adventure! Over the past month, Wheeler has been hard at work, sharing his charm and expertise with multiple handlers in readiness for the upcoming April MPA. It's been incredible to witness his growth and adaptability during this crucial phase of his training. Come June, Wheeler is set to graduate and embark on his new journey alongside a dedicated handler. Follow-up Friday and Pup Update with Mighty 🐾 Hey there, Mighty fans! 🐶 Mighty is 9 months old now, and he's been keeping busy with training and exploring new experiences! Here's what's been happening: 📅 Age: 9 months ⚖️ Weight: 57lbs 🎓 Training Focus: Mighty's been working hard on perfecting his obedience skills! He's mastering consistent waits, offs, and drop its, along with side/heel, under, and place (his bed). Plus, he's learning to greet others calmly and walk nicely on leash. He's also been getting used to deep snow and even braved a loud crowd block party on St. Patrick's Day! 😂 Funny Story of the Month: We introduced Mighty to a drive-through car wash recently, and let's just say, his reaction was priceless! The first time, he was a little unsure about all the sounds and brushes. But with some extra distractions and treats, he tackled it like a champ the next time around! 🐾 Mighty's Favorite Activity Lately: One of Mighty's favorite pastimes lately is sitting quietly next to the fridge, patiently waiting for his beloved ice cubes! It's quite the sight to see him sitting there, staring at us with those puppy-dog eyes. Who could resist giving him a few cubes? What's your pup's favorite treat? 🌟 Did you know that an Autism Assistance Dog can positively impact the sleep habits of autistic children? 🌙 Recent research published in Frontiers in Psychiatry highlights the significant effects that Autism Service Dogs have on improving sleep quality. 📚 The study involved 75 families of children with autism. They found that children living with Service Dogs showed significant improvements in sleep initiation, duration, and reduced sleep anxiety compared to those on the waitlist for a Service Dog. 🐾 Here's where it gets even better: Dogs for Better Lives offers Autism Assistance dogs at no cost to clients! Program puppy 🐾 Maggie visited a coffee shop to practice her settle with her Puppy Raiser, Grace. The goal is to have a dog that is well mannered, resists food distractions, and can relax under the table or next to their handler until given more instructions. Their teamwork and dedication are truly commendable, paving the way for Maggie to become an exceptional Assistance Dog.
